What is an accountant? A dictionary definition states: ‘someone who keeps or examines the records of money received, paid, and owed by a company or person.’

Hmmm. If only life were that simple.

There is no mention of the worries when dealing with nightmare clients. No reference as to how different an accountancy career is when you run your own practice. No indication of the troubles when dealing with staffing. It has been reported that accountancy is in the top 10 most stressful jobs in the UK. Running a business is very stressful. Combine them together for the perfect storm.

From an autobiographical and tongue-in-cheek perspective, Nick Asset takes readers on an eccentric journey through his childhood, and how this began to shape his career as an accountant. Starting off as a trainee in an accountancy practice, Nick’s life takes many twists and turns before reaching the pinnacle of running his own practice.
