Dit boek vertelt het verhaal van Taeke Tjerks en zijn afstammelingen tot nu toe. Taeke Tjerks was de oudste voorvader van de familie Van Dijk, een kleine familie, afkomstig uit "De Bjirmen", een streek in het noordwesten van Friesland. De belangrijkste thema's van dit boek zijn emigratie en herkenning of niet. Door de combinatie van archiefbronnen, foto's, bewaarde brieven en verhalen biedt deze familiegeschiedenis een blik op ons voorgeslacht, zowel in de grote lijn als in levensverhalen per gezin. This book tells the story of Taeke Tjerks and his descendants up until now. Taeke Tjerks was the ancestor to the Van Dijk family, a small family from an area in the North of Friesland called De Bjirmen . The themes of the book are emigration and resemblance or the lack thereof. By combining information from archives, photo's, kept letters and stories from descendants, this family history gives us a view on our ancestors as well as the stories of these families.
