History of the Labour Movement in the United States

This volume explores labor and Progressivism and traces the origins before this period. The concentration is on an era of great labor militancy, an era which produced "a great transformation of workers' consciousness in America."

The focus of this volume is not on inchoate dissatisfaction but on organized resistance, on workers who belonged to trade unions, and on their commitment to organize the unorganized, and the struggle for change in their lives.
