Hearsay

"e;Hearsay"e; originally refers to a person spreading random things he heard on the road to others. Now, it broadly denotes baseless rumors or gossip. Presented in colorful illustrations with accompanying text, this book tells the story behind the idiom "e;Hearsay"e;. The story takes place during the Warring States period and revolves around two neighbors, Ai Zi and Mao Kong, from the State of Qi. Mao Kong loved spreading baseless rumors that he casually heard along the way. One day, Mao Kong heard a false story about duck eggs and chunks of meat, and shared this information with Ai Zi and the people around him. However, Ai Zi refused to believe the gossip and interrogated Mao Kong, rendering him speechless.
