Starting in 2011, George Bowering, Canada's first Parliamentary poet laureate and author of more than eighty books (novels, stories, books for teens, literary criticism, memoirs, and books about baseball), let Rebecca Wigod interview him more than twenty times and lent her his diary. She gives this account of his life and work twenty chapters - his preferred length for a book - and structures it in "slices" (chapter titles include "The Varsity Man," "The Husband," and "The Sports Fan"), as he might.
