This book is a collection of 56 academic essays written by Prof. Chen Shangjun in recent years. It is basically sorted by the time of the content involved. From three sisters of Dugu Family, a legendary from the Northern Dynasty to the Sui Dynasty, to figures in the Tang Dynasty, such as Emperor Taizong, Li Linfu and Gao Lishi, its content also includes some discoveries and reflections in the process of reorganizing the Complete Collection of Tang Poetry. With respect to the Song Dynasty, it discusses why Song editions of books are so valuable, pays attention to the compilation of Apocalypse of Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government, and discusses Sima Guang's ideas of historiography. From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, besides analyzing the falsification of documents in Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature, it talks about many figures, such as Guo Songtao, Yan Fu, Tang Wenzhi, Zhang Yuanji, Xiong Xiling and Zhang Taiyan, which shows the wide reading scope of the author. With respect to the modern times, it talks about the author's communication with predecessors, such as Zhu Dongrun, Cheng Qianfan and Fu Xuancong, and communication with the peers, friends and other scholars, as well as some academic work that he participated in and his reviews of some books related to the Tang and Song Dynasties.
