Green Leadership

Green leadership is more than environmental awareness as advocated in this chapter and is the assurance of an overall involvement in the consideration of practicing sustainability in every aspect in the running of the organizations and pleasing in the society. The chapter explores how environmentalism has historically shaped its evolution, starting with initial steps of conservation and leading up to modern day concerns of fighting climate change mitigation and building sustainable development. It places emphasis on the core of the value of leaders in the development of awareness concerning the environment and the force of generating significant change in various fields of their influence. Additionally, the chapter points out increasing emerging awareness of the fact that environmental sustainability, economic prosperity and social fairness go hand in hand, adding that green leadership is more than just a particularly worthy cause but rather a long-term and resilient strategic initiative.
