Gout is an arthritis that is caused by uric acid accumulation in the blood. This uric acid accumulation can cause sort of needle - like crystals that are usually found in the joints. This condition is very painful. When a patient is diagnosed with gout, what usually happens is that he/ she has elevated levels of uric acid.
