Goodies and Other Stories in a Yorkshire Dialect

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The stories here presented have been written from time to time for the purpose of reading at concerts and entertainments in Yorkshire. They are put up in book form now in response to many requests that they should be published. I hope also that they may be useful as a small contribution to dialectic literature, and as illustrative of the harmless and often unconscious humour of the natives of N. E. Yorkshire. For almost all the stories are built around humorous incidents which have come under the personal notice of the author. If a stray chestnut is found embedded in the text I hope it will be generously overlooked.<br><br>Many writers in Yorkshire dialect make the mistake of inserting initial aitches in the spelling of words.
