Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The family was doubtless extensive, even at this early period Of history; for we find the names, Leger, De Le, and even Lee, frequently occurring in the doomsday book, which was compiled soon after the Conquest. We also find frequent refer ence to the Lees in The Rotuli Curiae Regis, or Rolls of the Court of Pleas, as given during the reigns of Richard I. And King john. We give interesting extracts from some of these suits, which are found in The Rotuli Curiae'
