Gabriel's Fire

By 1983, the war between Iran and Iraq has raged for three inconclusive years, with massive casualties suffered by both sides. Iran's Supreme Leader casts about for a decisive stroke that will break the stalemate and end the bleeding. The idea comes to the Supreme Leader in a dream - Gabriel's Fire, the acquisition of nuclear weapons. Yet Iran does not have the means to make them. But the Leader's secret intelligence service creates a plan to make the dream a reality: by stealing tactical nuclear warheads from a U.S. Army arsenal in West Germany. To cover their tracks, Iranian agents enlist the services of one of Germany's most vicious terrorist groups, headed by the deadly and mysterious Karl, to carry out the operation and spirit the warheads out of Germany. But Peter Becker of the CIA and Max Lundgren of GSG-9 are on Karl's trail. It is a race to see if they can catch Karl before he pulls off the operation of the century.
