Fryderyk Chopin
Fryderyk Chopin and his ingenious musical masterwork, so deeply rooted in his Polish native country, are rightly said to be «a magnificent climax of the Polish culture» (J. J. Eigeldinger). But they also belong, thanks to their universality, to the unparalleled spiritual heritage of all mankind. Chopin’s personality as well as his music have always been fascinating up to our own days, and, at the same time, are still inspiring new generations of composers. This interdisciplinary publication is the outcome of this worldwide fascination. It, on the one hand, is written in honour of the Polish composer on his 200th birthday and, on the other hand, adds several new aspects to the recent modern research on Chopin. Thus, this study is keeping with the new claim of the latest research on Chopin to establish a «necessary reinterpretation of the works by Chopin and their multi-dimensional reception», aiming at an increasingly more profound «understanding of Chopin’s music» (M. Tomaszewski).
