From Savagery to Civilization

The ancient Greeks struggled for 2500 years to define their cultural identity. They eventually triumphed, emerging from savage tribalism to become the world's first democracy and a great civilization. To help in their struggle, the Greeks created an elaborate mythology, filled with anthropomorphic gods and tales of valor and heroism.
