This Novel is written in the backdrop of the Socio- economic situation that prevailed in the mid twentieth century in Kerala, a Southern State of India. Caste System was still prevalent in the Society at that time. Caste and Colour were the fundamental determining factors of one's Social status. Besides, financial status also was a deciding factor.
