The premiere took place in Moscow on February 25, 1877 at the tenth assembly of the Russian Music Society. N. G. Rubinstein conducted it. The Petersburg premiere was held under the guidance of E. F. Napravnik, while the first performance abroad, in Berlin, was organized by V. Bilse.
