Finitude

This book contains observations, philosophy, and advice from a manufacturing-era engineer at end-oflife. It started as an investigative report on an environmental issue that the author had been working onfor more than 30 years: damming of the Great lakes to produce hydro power to be used by politicians tobuy votes. It is destroying the Great Lakes, which is 20 % of the earth s fresh water. However, in doingresearch for this book, the author stumbled on to a worse threat then ruining the Great Lakes:extinction of the human race. The birth rate in most countries is below replacement and the numberspoint to extinction of the human species possibly as soon as 2300. There are too few babies being born. This book details our current problems. All of the USA s current issues play a role in humanity s decline:birth circumstance, peace and order, education, economics, health, jobs, etc. The author presentsobservations in each area, draws conclusions, and proposes solutions. Adoption of actions items maylengthen our finitude. Maybe when the earth s population gets down to one billion, humans willrespond by altering their behaviors and governance to keep themselves, USA s democracy, and thehuman species going for a while longer.
