Feminism: In our everyday lives
why are you writing this book anonymously?
Because I know that once my employers discover how strong of a feminist I secretly am, and read this book, they will reconsider me as an employee. That's what our world is like, today. I downplay my power because it frightens men. I act nice so they think I'm submissive, thus a "good fit" as a junior employee breaking into this world.
Is this the impact we want our world to have?
We, as women, are afraid to own our power publicly, with a loud proud voice, unlike the other gender.
We are afraid to claim and own what we deserve ; what we were born to be and have. We take a back seat in silence and tolerate today's circumstances, thinking "it's just the way it is". How many times have you heard that before?
Why do we do that?
Because our survival depends on it. We didn't choose this. It was imposed on us, a long time ago. We never willingly chose to take a back seat. We didn't have freedom of choice. But some did: men. We were forced into this powerlessness, and we still are. We were stripped of every shred of power we could possibly have that we would be able to make LEMONADE with. Today we try and try to break those historical walls. But all we are doing is trying to fit into an already-built man's world that serves THEM, not us. It doesn't hear our needs or desires as women. Worrying about our clothes, our styles, our smiles, not being taken seriously enough, worrying about how strong our perfume is, how our makeup will be judged, how our kindness and softness will be professionally judged.
Why are we changing ourselves to fit in?
This is not your world nor mine. It's another gender's world.
Let's stop "fitting in".
Let's rebuild.
We should be metaphorical construction workers and innovators. I say let's re-craft and build new foundations that can not only help us survive as strong and independent women, but also thrive. We are merely surviving, not thriving. We are not living our fullest potential. We are not reaching beyond the limitations imposed on us. We need to build a world and entities that let us thrive so highly, that the other gender starts wanting to depend on us. Too high of an ambition you think? Look at our world today. That's HOW IT IS TODAY, unfortunately reversed. Just because the world is a certain way today, doesn't mean it's right.
