Fatty liver

Alcohol consumption is an important cause of fatty liver disease and is a factor that should always be considered in a patient with this disease. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a chronic liver disease little studied so far, but its incidence is increasing with the growing rate of obesity and diabetes in Western societies. It represents a disease in itself as well as an important risk factor for other diseases such as liver cirrhosis.
