While collecting my devotional poems, I started noticing they fall into several main categories. This helps give the reader perspective. Sometimes I was encouraged by a moral insight. Reading the Morality chapter, will help the reader develop a true sense of morality. Sometimes I was encouraged by a deeper understanding of who God is and how he works. While reading the chapter on Theology, the reader will develop a simple and practical understanding of theology. Then at times I felt like my devotional had real physical nourishment like a sacrament. The chapter on Word and Sacrament will help the reader build a stronger faith. These devotional poems are often summaries of, at least the particular chapter. To make the poems clearer the reader might expand his Scripture reading. I treasure the poems written about faith and passion. There is a relationship between faith and how we interact with other people. Our understanding of God shapes these relationships. Faith is internal and our feelings for our spouse are true feelings. Just as faith is the reality of our relationship with God. As I trust God, I am able to trust my spouse. These relationships are a picture of our faith in God. One reader described the poems as expository. And yes, I see them as mini sermons. This text is for the reader who is wholeheartedly seeking God. I am encouraged, myself, as I reread the text.
