Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The history of Elijah supplies us with one of the most striking, and, we may add, one of the most instructive, sections of the Old Testa ment. With him begins the wonderful history of Prophetism. Through him we obtain a glimpse which we would not willingly lose of God's deal ings with His people: His faithfulness to them when they were unfaithful to Him; His uure mitting efforts to withdraw them from sin and keep them in that intimate and obedient relation to Him in which alone was safety to be found.
