Envy and the "evil eye"

It is a popular belief, reinforced by the Church, that magic and witchcraft exist as a "supernatural power" possessed by certain people. This power is believed to be obtained through "pacts" made with the "devil". In this sense, magic and witchcraft represent the counterpart of the Church and the Catholic religion.For the people, the demon, a sinister being, is the one who gives "power" to his followers to cast spells and brew potions which, through rites and magic passes, allow them to obtain "marvellous" things or dreadful evils. People who make such "agreements" with "the evil one" and engage in the practice of magic and witchcraft are known as witches and warlocks. They have always been unjustly confused with "magicians" AND healers, among whom doctors and psychologists should be placed, except that the training of the latter is of a formal nature and takes place in universities. But it is a fact that doctors, priests and psychologists are the modern witchdoctors. But, of course, with institutionalised training.
