English Sociosyntax

The burgeoning field of sociosyntax brings together two prominent intellectual traditions within linguistics: (variationist) sociolinguistics and formal morphosyntactic theory. However, the state of the field is not always clear to newcomers to the field or even to scholars working directly within sociosyntax. This volume contributes cutting-edge research that illustrates the current methods and theory of sociosyntax. It captures the full range of the field, including work by variationist sociolinguists who incorporate formal theory into their work, researchers whose work is situated within both sides of sociosyntax, and researchers who embody up-to-date methodologies.
