Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. This volume has been prepared, at the request of many teachers, for the use of pupils in academics and common schools. The topics considered have been selected with ref erence both to the average age of such pupils and to the time usually allotted to the study of Physics.
