Driftwood Madonna is the true story of Juss, who found not just one bottle with a message inside, but a second bottle years later, in exactly the same spot.

Juss narrates a whimsical tale of his love for the seashore and the unexpected treasures he finds on the beach - wondrous stones with holes, driftwood and random bottles, and finally the ultimate treasure, a message in a bottle, or bottle post as he calls it. Juss exchanges letters and gifts with his bottle post friends, Jannik in Germany and later Martina in Sweden, friendships that endure well into adulthood.

This is a book about friendship and discovery, like seeing the likeness of a Madonna on a piece of driftwood or hearing the singing grains of sand. The world is full of wonder. The key is to find it, in the treetops, in the ripples on the the sand, in the billowing clouds.


Jutustus saab alguse mererannast, kuhu lained kannavad vahest täiesti ootamatuid asju - lisaks lauajuppidele ja kasutatud saabastele ka näiteks pudelposti. Nii juhtuski jutustajaga, kes leidis pudelkirja ja sõber Janniku, kes oli pudelposti merre visanud Saksamaal. Ja hiljem ka veel Rootsi tüdruku Martina kirja, mis randus juhuse tahtel täpselt samasse kohta!
