In the small beachside town of Banana Bay, Florida, reluctant socialite Maya Porter is having a very bad day. It's the one-year anniversary of her husband Franklin's disappearance in the Atlantic when his boat blew up and she's the only one believing his story that he's on a secret mission for the government as she encounters his ex-girlfriend who sports a black eye, the wrong color of toenail polish, a bowling alley accident, a ditsy dame named Sherrye and a priest who is romantically interested in her only daughter as Maya wrestles with the problem of freeing a peregrine falcon from a bird sanctuary--not to mention the tainted cracked crab salad, the mute bodyguard and the first edition copy of "Huckleberry Finn" in the toilet.
