Democratic Voice

Albert Einstein famously said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." Fitting the adage, this book presents three ways forward for democracy:

• Single member district proportional representation (SMDPR) is rigorously based on voice, governability, and the principle of minimal change. It measures better on these than any other electoral system in major word use
• Demeny voting gives voice to youth, those most in need of government services; an idea that both fulfills constitutional promise and husbands the future for those most likely to live in it
• Constituency assemblies (CAs) should provide accurate, informed public opinion but not in any way interfere with the structure or constitutional function of the legislature
