Defiance

Dienekes, the frailest of Spartan boys, is thrown into the agoge, Sparta's merciless military upbringing, to either become a Spartan warrior or die trying. Through an arduous and eventful childhood he catapults toward an end that will eternalize him and his people, and at the heart of a conspiracy he ventures toward an abrupt and historic death.
