In the long history of poetry many of its finest exponents and greatest talents have been forgotten or put to one side. It is also true that the legacy of some poets has been lost whether by accident, design or simply unable to survive the long path of the centuries.Michael Wigglesworth is a name now very much unknown and yet, in his time, he was a phenomenal best-selling poet. True the numbers compared to these more modern eras of mass distribution are small but publishing then was difficult, expensive and much of the audience lacked the ability to read though were ever eager to gather in groups to be read to.
