Current concept of ANTIBIOTICS in dentistry

Illness has been mans heritage from the beginning of his existence and the search of remedies to combat it is perhaps equally old. Antibiotics are prescribed in dental practice for prophylactic and therapeutic reasons. Dentist prescribe between 7% and 11% of all common antibiotics. A sound knowledge of appropriate prescribing of antimicrobial among health professionals is thus critical in combating the resistance.
