Council of sheikhs

This study analyses the relationship between the sufi groups and the authorities in the Ottoman empire, focusing in the Contemporary Age and especially in the institution of the "Council of sheikhs" (majlis-i meshayih) to manage and control the tekke, from member's behavior to financial problems or rites conducted there.

A historical study about the 19th century Ottoman institution "Council of sheikhs" (majlis-i meshayih) created to supervise the dervish lodges (tekke) and control their administrative functioning.
