Complications of Hip Fracture Osteosynthesis

Hip fractures are now considered the new orthopaedic epidemic, and according to the World Health Organisation their incidence in Latin America is becoming increasingly high. In addition, fractures of the proximal end of the femur have been shown to be one of the most common disabling injuries occurring in older adults, with surgical treatment being considered the only therapeutic possibility to ensure a return to pre-fracture function and the maintenance of a good quality of life.
