After the way my parents destroyed their marriage, I prefer my romance fictional-for myself, anyway. When my best friend, Miles, needs a date to an awards ceremony, I'm more than willing to set him up. I'm his ideal matchmaker because I know the shy bookstore owner better than anyone, and I'm completely impartial.

He agrees on one condition-if my setups don't work out, I'll be his date to the gala. No problem. Finding him the perfect match will be easy. He's the kind of low-key hot cinnamon roll that makes bookish girls everywhere swoon. Who wouldn't fall for Miles?

But I start to suspect he's sabotaging his dates so I'll have to go to the gala with him. And I might not be as eager to set him up as I thought I was.

Because it turns out, I'm not impartial at all. I'm very, very partial to Miles. He's better than any imaginary book boyfriend I could dream up.
