Chosen To Love The Children: My miraculous and life-altering experience as a foster parent

Many times when children are accepted into the care of foster parents they are broken, bruised, and battered due to rape, sexual abuse and the inability to trust as a result of their circumstances. During my 16 years as a foster parent, I have encountered many of these beautiful 'angels.' Yes, I call them 'angels' because there is a greater power within each of them that has to be nurtured in order for the child to one day fly. As I reflect on the many angels that has entered my home, some of them arrived as the sun crept across the canopy of the sky, some as the sun took its place at the middle of the day, and while others as the sun dimmed its light behind the crest of the moon, each with their own unique stories and uncertainties with fear of the unknown. Nobody said it would be easy, especially with broken wings. But with loving care, I was able to nurture each child until they were strong enough to fly and be productive citizens in society. Not all angels are made in heaven. Some are made in foster care.
