"Chimerica-a Tale of Two Nations", Ben Mah's seventh book, flatly rejects American historian Niall Ferguson's notion that the symbiotic economic relationship between America and China built over the past decade is a marriage made in heaven. On the contrary, China, by allowing American multinational corporations to exploit her cheap and productive labor, degrade her environment and deplete her natural resources, has paid a heavy price and will face immense obstacles to her future development. This book also reveals that Washington, not satisfied with the enviable position it achieved in dealing with China economically, also "developed a detailed, complex and multi-pronged strategy to undermine China's rise to global preeminence." Indeed, to serve its geopolitical interests, America has adopted a policy of confrontation against China by forming alliances and building military bases among her neighbors.
