The brothers Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm (1786-1859) Grimm were outstanding German philologists, collectors, and publishers of folklore, who laid the foundations of comparative linguistics. Their scholarly work spanned a wide range of fields: from fundamental works on the grammar and history of the German language (Jakob Grimm) to the painstaking collection and publication of ancient texts (Wilhelm Grimm). Together, they compiled the first historical dictionary of the German language and published the most important works of German literature. However, it was their Children's and Family Tales, first published in 1812, that brought the brothers worldwide fame. In this book, they collected dozens of folk tales, preserving their original imagery and vibrant language. Fairy tales, filled with vibrant characters and archetypal plots, have become an integral part of European culture, influencing literature, art, and children's imaginations worldwide. This collection includes the most famous fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm those read to children for generations, those that help young readers discover the power of imagination and their first lessons in kindness and justice. These stories have become truly timeless and rightfully occupy a place among the golden treasures of world classics.
