Chemical Arts and Technologies of Indigenous Americans

This study assembles the available evidence for the poorly documented area of knowledge of the "chemical arts" in pre-Columbian America, finding this to be more extensive than is often assumed. Topics and processes discussed include food preparation and preservation, drugs and poisons, dyeing, tanning, embalming andmetallurgy amongst others.
