Causes and Consequences of Glossophobia

The fear of public speaking is a social phobia. Speaking in public has been a long-standing issue in the communication and language arena. Many students tried to avoid speaking in public because of embarrassment, shaky voices, rapid heartbeat and feeling of discomfort, inferiority complex and low self-esteem. Thus, this study investigated causes and consequences of glossophobia as expressed by undergraduates of University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
