CAD Practical Skills in Textile Technology and Design (TTD)

The overarching purpose of this research is the acquisition of the competencies necessary to perform professional tasks. The emphasis is as a result of the need to respond to the changing skills or demands of the workforce as revealed by several government publications and research reports. The new curriculum is aiming at promoting creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and the use of Computer Aided Designs (CAD). Variety of designs encourages learners to be competent therefore promoting creativity through the use of CAD. Most textiles and technology learners face challenges in coming up with good sketches of designs using pencil and paper therefore the need to venture into design using CAD. Zimbabwe is dwindling in terms of economic development, enhancing entrepreneurship skills at an early stage will benefit the country in the future at the same time resuscitating the economy. Every Zimbabwean have to appreciate local made products and attach aesthetic value to the products.
