Boys' Book of Engine-Building

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. This boy was Bion J. Arnold, now our fore most American engineer. He was only thirteen years old when he built his first engine - and it worked, too. It was a little horizontal steam affair about seven inches long, and he went about building it in the right way - that is he made patterns for the chief parts, cast them in lead and put them together with the tools of a kindly disposed gunsmith.
