Bokuto Kidan

This book includes two representative novellas Bokuto Kidan and Mei Yu Season. In the first article, author described the dark situation and strange social atmosphere in Japan in the war years with teasing and derision. He made sharp and ruthless mockery of the police's insolence, ignorance and the dark atmosphere before Japan launched the war. The author watched his country slide into the abyss of war with sadness and indifference. Mei Yu Season describes a cafe waitress named Junjiang who, after entering the city from the countryside, became a woman who indulged in fornication and had no sense of shame under the influence of the prevailing westernized culture in the specific environment of Ginza in downtown Tokyo. Her depravity reflects the phenomenon of moral degeneration caused by the social atmosphere at that time. It also has a tendency to criticize civilization.
