Birth of Christ and the Christmas Event

This book serves to present the biblical account of the Christmas story in chronological order, as recorded in the gospels of Matthew and Luke, so as to provide the reader with a seamless narrative. It also explores the background to the nativity event as celebrated throughout the world in order to provide some explanation to the historical and ecclesiastical development of what has generally been accepted as a worldwide holiday break in the working calendar associated with retail profusion, family gatherings, and merrymaking, particularly in the Western world. The way Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world is included to try and encapsulate the richness in diversity of a religious event held dear to so many.
