Behind The Fireplace

Thirteen-year-old Nicholas Hudson is positive that he is going to have a lonely, dreary summer until he discovers a hidden chamber behind his fireplace. In the room sits an old wizard who tells the boys that he has been waiting for him. The wizard sends Nicholas through a magical door to a land called Tovenaar, charged with the mission of finding the land's disappearing children. Once under the protection of the Great Wizards, Tovenaar is now held captive by the evil Pelaygros whom the Tovenaarans suspect are behind the children's disappearance. Behind the Fireplace follows Nicholas' quest to help out the people in this odd land where he encounters many strange creatures, both good and evil. Though he is frightened and unsure, he faces his task with courage and wisdom.
