Before the Rules

Before the Rules is John Budan's second collection of previously published poems using the Japanese prosemetric form. This collection includes tanka prose interspersed with individual tanka. Budan continues to surprise readers with his empathetic grasp of the emotional life of his characters, with insights from his personal experiences as a world traveler, and with his acceptance of both the beauty and the pain of our ordinary lives.
