Around Cranleigh

This book offers glimpses into the past of a rural community that many believe to be the largest village in England. Using around 180 old photographs drawn mainly from the author's extensive personal collection, together with examples from other local sources, the book illustrates in vivid style some of the changes that have taken place in the everyday lives of its people, and the people of the surrounding communities. Many of the images record the period between the turn of the twentieth century and World War I, but the record goes back as far as the 1870s.This volume will be treasured by all who know Cranleigh and would enjoy a nostalgic look at its recent past.
