The increase in antimicrobial resistance, as well as its adverse side effects and pharmacological interactions, has determined the need to constantly search for new drugs that are effective and of low toxicity. In the last decades, several plants have been the subject of research in the extraction and characterization of therapeutic active principles. Natural products in the form of plant extracts are a rich cultural heritage and are an alternative solution to public health problems and therefore are currently the subject of scientific research to ensure the technological quality, therapeutic efficacy and safety of the same, as part of its characterization tests are performed to determine the antibacterial and antifungal biological activity.
