Journey to the West was written by Wu Cheng'en, a novelist of the Ming Dynasty. It is based on the Great Tang Records on the Western Regions, folklore and zaju of the Yuan Dynasty. Da Tang Sanzang Qujing Shihua (originally known as Tropicana's Search for Buddhist Sutras) in Song Dynasty is the earliest prototype of the story of Journey to the West, which can be seen in the spoken language. Among them, Monk Tang took master Xuanzang as the prototype. As the first romantic novel of gods and demons in ancient China, the book profoundly depicts the social reality at that time and is the pioneering work of magic realism. The book mainly describes the three people, Monkey King, Pig Bajie and Monk Sha, who protect Monk Tang from taking scriptures in the West. Monk Tang suffered a lot from birth to taking scriptures. He subdued the demons and evils all the way, and finally came to the west to see Buddha, and finally the five saints became gods.
