Aaraaishein: Urdu Shayeri

Aaraaishein is a collection of Urdu Poetry, ghazals and nazm. This book contains selected ghazals from my two books Pahechaan, published in 1989, and Saughat, published in 1992, in Arabic script.

The idea behind publishing in Devnagari (Hindi) is to reach a wider readership. The verses are only transliterated and not translated, so you will find Urdu as it is and for the reader's convenience, meanings are given below the ghazal wherever necessary.

You will find poetry of all moods. Romantic, sad, happy and philosophical.

There are ghazals in classic bahrs (meter), which have not been commonly in use for more than 50 years. Yet, they are very easy to understand. There are four nasri nazm (prose poetry), which are very musical and appreciated by renowned poets and critics.
