A Journey from the Beginning

The opening chapters of the Book of Genesis, composed and developed within the living faith communities of ancient Israel, proclaim that God was the loving Creator of all things.

From the beginning, love was God's purpose, and those early stories are about how God's creatures, especially humanity, would respond to that loving purpose.

A Journey from the Beginning aptly describes the author's approach. This is not an account of far-off origins; it is an interpretation of God's purposes for us today - how, by exploring in detail the texts of the first three chapters of Genesis, we may discover their message and meaning; and how they direct us in our life choices.

Like the original stores in Genesis, this book is written within a faith community that affirms the need for God in our world, the desire to include the Bible's creation accounts in our seeking to make sense of our lives and our world; and, above all, a desire to be faithful to the ancient covenant between God and Creation in all its complexity, wonder and beauty.
