A Harsh Beginning, is a fictional piece of work, tracing a young man's journey, to establish a new life for himself in Colonial Connecticut, circa 1730.Following his father's footsteps, who immigrated to Spitalfields London, from the fine silk producing area of Montauban, Haute-Garonne, Midi-Pyr n es, France, he works alongside his father, as a clothier, producing silks and woollens.Wanting to establish himself in the New World, he takes the perilous eight week trip, by ship, to New Haven Connecticut, with hIs dream of having a Homestead, and to carry on the tradition of a clothier.Along his way, he falls in love and marries a beautiful young Black woman, and together, they complete his homestead dream.The establishment of the farm, could not have been accomplished, without the lifelong friendship, that was forged with a local Indian man, while on his trek into the wilderness.Let your imagination soar, as you read along, guided only by the tidbits provided.
