A Fry Swims the Tuck

The west side of Detroit in the 1950s: That's where this story begins, in a working-class neighborhood, where the fathers were World War II veterans and the mothers were housewives and a young boy's world was confined to the street he lived on.

But as the narrator grows up through the '50s and '60s, America is going through tense changes--changes reflected in his own family and his neighborhood. Touching on the issues of the time, especially white flight and race relations, A Fry Swims the Tuck tells a story of a boy and his family, of loss, and of the lessons we learn when those we love are lost.
